Canadian Firearms Safety Course

(CFSC for Rifles & Shotguns) "PAL"

»Prerequisite: Minimum 12 years of age. Students 12 to 18 require parental consent.

This course is a minimum 8 hours of training that will allow the student to apply for a Canadian firearms licence "PAL" this course includes the use of course manuals. Minimal instructional hours do not include breaks, lunches or delivery of the examination.

This basic firearms safety course is available to persons of all skill levels and employment requirements. The course includes discussion, handling of firearms, and lectures based around the five most common action types of rifles and shotguns (non-restricted firearms). Students will develop skills and knowledge in the following areas: Handling and using firearms in a safe manner, social responsibilities of firearms owners, storage, display, and transportation laws for non-restricted firearms. Upon successful completion of the written and practical exam, students may apply for their Firearms Licence "PAL" with the RCMP.


As of January 9, 2019, the Canadian Firearm Education Office set the following maximum fees for the Canadian Firearms Safety Course in Ontario.

CFSC course fee: $170.00 (includes written and practical exams, hands on coaching, teaching & training aids,videos, Power Point presentation).

Applicable course material fee $29.00 includes, use of CFSC manual, pens, highlighters, information hand outs, note books/paper, photo copying, parking as well as a beverage and snack pkg.

Total cost of this course $199.00

Ontario Hunter Education Course

"For Your Outdoor Hunting Card"

The Ontario Hunter Education Program will assist you to understand the natural world and become a knowledgeable and responsible hunter. 


»Prerequisite: Successful completion of the Canadian Firearms Safety Course (Minimum 12 years of age with parental consent).

This course is a minimum 10 and one half hours of class room time plus examination designed to work in conjunction with the Canadian Firearm Safety Course. The course includes lectures and discussion on topics which include : hunting laws and regulations, hunter responsibilities, ecosystems and wildlife management, the hunter and their role in society, wildlife identification, biology, management and hunting of big game, small game, migratory birds, survival and hunting equipment.

Total Course Cost: $199.00 (Includes manuals, written exam, teaching & training aids,video, Power Point presentation and course supplies.

Canadian Restricted Firearms Safety Course

(CRFSC for Pistols & Revolvers)

»Prerequisite: Minimum 18 years of age and the successful completion of the Canadian Firearm Safety course.

This course is a minimum 6 hours of training that will allow the student to apply for a Canadian restricted firearms licence "RPAL". Minimal instructional hours do not include breaks, lunches or delivery of the examination.

This firearms safety course is available to persons of all skill levels and meets employment requirements. The course includes discussion, handling of firearms, and lectures based around the most common action types of pistols and handguns (Restricted Firearms). Students will develop skills and knowledge in the following areas:

Handling and using restricted firearms in a safe manner, social responsibilities of restricted firearm ownership, storage, display, and transportation laws for restricted firearms. Upon successful completion of the written and practical exams, students may apply for their Restricted Firearms Licence with the RCMP.
